Agartala
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday announced that the Centre has approved the construction of a 50-bed critical care block at the district hospital in Dhalai.
The new facility is expected to strengthen advanced medical services at the district level, particularly for trauma cases, cardiac emergencies and other life-threatening conditions. Once operational, it will reduce the need to shift critically ill patients to Agartala for specialised treatment, the chief minister said.
In a social media post, Saha said the critical care block has been sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), with an estimated project cost of Rs 23.75 crore.
Describing the development as a major boost for healthcare infrastructure in the region, the chief minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister J P Nadda for their support in expanding modern medical facilities in Tripura’s tribal and remote areas.
