The Chhattisgarh government has imposed restrictions on the supply of commercial LPG cylinders, limiting it to 20 per cent of the previous month’s consumption, while also introducing timelines for domestic refill bookings to streamline distribution.

The decision was taken during a review meeting chaired by Food Department Secretary Reena Baba Saheb Kangale, where officials assessed LPG availability in the backdrop of supply pressures linked to the West Asia conflict.

Under the revised guidelines, commercial users—including hotels, restaurants and institutions—will receive only a fraction of their earlier consumption. At the same time, essential services such as hospitals, educational institutions, defence establishments, jails, transport canteens, and government offices have been prioritised in the allocation process.

To ensure better access for households, authorities have directed that online booking for domestic LPG refills must be fulfilled within 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural regions.

The state government has also instructed district administrations to maintain order at LPG distribution centres by deploying police and home guards, aiming to prevent overcrowding amid heightened demand.

Additionally, distributors have been told to keep communication lines open and respond promptly to consumer grievances.

Oil marketing companies, including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, will now monitor stock levels daily and share regular updates with the state authorities.

The move is part of efforts to ensure fair and efficient distribution of LPG supplies as demand rises and supply chains face strain.
