The Delhi High Court on Friday renotified for January 28 the civil suit filed by Rani Kapur challenging the dissolution and administration of the RK Family Trust, following a brief preliminary hearing. The bench observed that the matter raised complex issues requiring detailed examination.
During the hearing, Justice Vikas Mahajan allowed the parties to submit short written statements to clarify points arising from their initial arguments.
Rani Kapur, mother of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, has contended that the RK Family Trust was created and operated without her informed consent, effectively excluding her from beneficial ownership of assets she claims were rightfully hers. The suit alleges that the trust’s formation occurred while she was medically unwell after a stroke, relying on her son for the management of her personal and financial affairs.
According to the plaintiff, she had been assured that her estate remained under her control. However, she claims that transactions carried out during this period undermined her ownership rights. The suit also alleges that her late son was either influenced or allowed to participate in implementing the trust arrangement.

Rani Kapur further contends that she was made to sign documents without full knowledge of their contents, with some papers reportedly signed in blank. The allegations are directed at Priya Kapur and other defendants, who are accused of concealing the trust’s true nature and consequences.
Through the suit, Rani Kapur seeks cancellation of the RK Family Trust and the restoration of her estate, asserting that the arrangements were executed through misrepresentation and undue influence, without her informed consent.
