Delhi recorded a marginal improvement in air quality on Sunday, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) easing from very poor to poor. The city logged an AQI of 269 at 7 am, compared to 305 on Saturday evening.

Despite the improvement, several areas, including ITO, remained shrouded in smog. Shadipur reported the worst AQI at 335, while Mandir Marg, at 158, was the cleanest among major stations.

Most monitoring stations recorded AQI levels between 260 and 295, keeping large parts of the capital in the poor category.

The Delhi government said it is monitoring pollution levels daily, even as the issue fuelled political criticism. Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit termed the pollution crisis “murder,” citing warnings of reduced life expectancy due to prolonged exposure. Rahul Gandhi also demanded a debate in Parliament on Delhi’s worsening air quality.
