The strategic environment is undergoing rapid transformation as conventional security concerns increasingly intersect with emerging challenges, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan said on Friday, asserting that the implications impact all countries.

He also stressed the need for increasing cooperation between nations so that everyone benefits.

Radhakrishnan was addressing the fourth International Strategic Engagement Programme (IN-STEP), a two-week executive training course conducted by the National Defence College.

"The strategic environment around us is undergoing rapid transformation and traditional security concerns are increasingly intersecting with emerging challenges in areas such as technology, cyberspace, artificial intelligence, energy security and climate change," he said.

"These developments have implications not only for individual nations, but for the wider international community," the vice president said.

Addressing delegates, including those from 28 foreign countries, he said key inventions should be shared to benefit all.

Radhakrishnan recalled that India not only provided free Covid vaccines to its citizens, but to other countries as well.

He said while global companies were looking at their own interests, the Narendra Modi government helped crores internationally.

India has fast emerged as the first responder during calamities in different countries. Pain and sorrows should be shared, the VP said.
