A 32-year-old man has been arrested in Gujarat’s Kutch district for allegedly sharing online content linked to the ideology of the terrorist group Islamic State, police said on Saturday.

The accused, identified as Fakirmamad Gagda, a resident of Bhuj, was taken into custody by the West Kutch-Bhuj Special Operations Group on Friday following an investigation into his social media activities.

According to officials, Gagda had allegedly uploaded videos, images and written material on various social media platforms that appeared to promote extremist ideology.

During the investigation, police examined his mobile phones and allegedly discovered that he had created multiple accounts on Instagram and Facebook using different identities.

Investigators claimed the digital content suggested he was following the ideology associated with ISIS and was allegedly circulating posts related to Khilafat, Jihad and calls for mobilisation, which authorities said could threaten the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India.
