India Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave warning for parts of Jharkhand for Thursday, while also forecasting rain and thunderstorms in several districts over the next few days.
According to the IMD Ranchi, heatwave conditions are expected in four northeastern districts — Dumka, Jamtara, Dhanbad and Bokaro.
The department also predicted light to moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds of 30–50 kmph, thunderstorms and lightning from April 24 to April 26.
Deputy Director Abhishek Anand said maximum temperatures are unlikely to change significantly over the next three days, but may fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius afterward. A yellow alert has been issued for both heatwave and rainfall conditions.

Temperatures across Jharkhand currently range between 34.6°C and 43.4°C. The highest was recorded in Daltonganj at 43.4°C, followed by Jamshedpur and Chaibasa at 42.4°C each.
