Narendra Modi on Tuesday said India is strengthening its position as a reliable semiconductor supplier in the global market, as he inaugurated a new facility in Sanand, Gujarat.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facility of Kaynes Semicon, calling it a significant milestone in India’s journey towards self-reliance in advanced manufacturing.

He said the launch of the facility marks a landmark step in building a robust semiconductor ecosystem in the country and reflects India’s growing integration into global technology supply chains.

“With the commencement of production in this project, India is further strengthening its role as a reliable semiconductor supplier in the global market,” Modi said, adding that the development creates a new technological bridge between India and global innovation hubs like Silicon Valley.

Highlighting broader policy efforts, he noted that India’s participation in the Pax Silica initiative is aimed at securing the supply of critical minerals essential for semiconductor production.

The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of the semiconductor sector in shaping the future, stating that this is not merely a phase of economic competition but a defining moment in determining the global technology landscape.
