Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday encouraged young people to reconnect with their cultural roots while embracing innovation to contribute to societal progress.
Addressing the inaugural session of the ‘Jammu Kashmir Cultural Festival’ in Jammu, Sinha highlighted the importance of the Union Territory’s rich cultural and spiritual traditions in shaping a progressive and inclusive future.
The festival, organised by the Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, aims to celebrate and preserve traditional heritage, including folk arts, customs, and spiritual practices, while reinforcing a shared cultural identity. Sinha expressed confidence that the event would bring vibrancy through traditional performances and cultural exhibitions, while also recognising the contributions of farmers through awareness initiatives.
Emphasising the broader role of India in the global landscape, the Lieutenant Governor said the country has a responsibility to strengthen the knowledge economy and share its cultural, philosophical, and innovative contributions with the world. He noted that at a time when global conflicts are creating divisions, India has the potential to offer a path rooted in peace, knowledge, and cultural wisdom.
Sinha underlined that the younger generation carries forward a legacy of intellectual and cultural richness. He urged them to blend tradition with modern thinking by drawing inspiration from heritage while developing new ideas and innovations that can bring positive change.
In today’s interconnected world, he added, fostering unity and compassion is essential. He called on youth to promote harmony and cooperation, both within the country and globally.
Highlighting the significance of art and culture, Sinha said they provide not only creative expression but also a deeper sense of purpose and understanding, making them vital to nation-building. In the Indian context, he described art, spirituality, and philosophy as enduring links that connect generations.
Referring to the current national leadership, Sinha said the country is navigating a challenging period in global history with strong direction. He also pointed to the significant progress India has made in recent years, describing it as a period of remarkable transformation.
He stressed that sustaining this growth will require collective effort, particularly in advancing technology and innovation to meet future challenges. According to him, India’s growing presence on international platforms reflects a renewed sense of confidence and a revival of its historical legacy.
