The Counter Intelligence wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday recovered several digital communication devices and other incriminating material during searches inside Srinagar Central Jail, officials said.

The case has been registered under various provisions of the erstwhile Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Officials said the operation was launched after credible intelligence inputs suggested the presence of suspicious digital signatures within the prison premises. Searches were carried out across several blocks and barracks in coordination with jail authorities.

During the operation, sleuths of Counter Intelligence Kashmir seized multiple digital devices and other material considered incriminating.

The recovered devices will be sent for forensic analysis to determine possible links and usage patterns, officials said.

Police are also investigating the apparent security breach that allowed such devices to enter the high-security jail. The role of any facilitators or collaborators will be examined, and appropriate action will follow, they added.
