The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms across Jharkhand for four days starting September 17.

An alert has been issued for isolated thunderstorms and lightning in 24 districts of the state, including Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Gooda Pakur and Sahibganj, for September 17.

“Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds reaching up to 40 kmph is likely across the state from September 17-20,” the IMD said in a bulletin.

An alert has also been sounded across the state from September 18-20 for isolated thunder and lightning.

"No significant change is likely in the maximum temperatures over the next five days,” it said.

In the past 24 hours, Jama in Dumka district received the highest rainfall at 65 mm.

“We have issued an ‘orange’ alert (be prepared) for isolated thunderstorm and lightning in 18 districts, and a ‘yellow’ alert (be updated) in the remaining six northeastern districts for September 17. The wind speed will be up to 30-40 kmph,” IMD Ranchi Deputy Director Abhishek Anand said.
