A strong Indian contingent of 11 golfers, led by Karandeep Kochhar, Gaganjeet Bhullar, SSP Chawrasia and Jeev Milkha Singh, will begin their campaign at the Singapore Open on Thursday.
The 57th edition of the tournament is part of the International Series and carries a prize purse of USD 2 million. The top two finishers, if not already exempt, will earn spots in the The Open Championship, golf’s oldest major championship.
Kochhar enters the event in impressive form after finishing fourth at the Philippine Golf Championship and fifth at International Series Japan.
Also representing India are Shiv Kapur, Ajeetesh Sandhu, Rashid Khan, Pukhraj Singh Gill, Sachin Baisoya, Shaurya Bhattacharya and Shubham Jaglan.
The tournament returns to Sentosa Golf Club, where Sadom Kaewkanjana won the last edition in 2022 by defeating Tom Kim.
This year’s field also includes several LIV Golf players such as Lucas Herbert, Josele Ballester, Luis Masaveu, Peter Uihlein, Caleb Surratt and Bjorn Hellgren.
Travis Smyth, leader of the Asian Tour Order of Merit, and reigning merit champion Kazuki Higa are also in action.
