The Directorate of Disaster Management in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will conduct a mock drill on earthquake and tsunami preparedness on Monday, officials said.
The exercise will begin at 9:30 am and conclude at 11:30 am.
The drill will be conducted in coordination with various emergency support agencies, including the Andaman and Nicobar Command, the National Disaster Response Force and the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services.
Officials said the primary objective of the exercise is to test the effectiveness of disaster communication systems and coordination among different government departments and emergency response agencies during earthquake and tsunami situations.
As part of the simulation, emergency sirens will be activated at designated locations to demonstrate the early warning dissemination system.
A senior official said essential services and routine public activities will continue as usual during the exercise.
