New Delhi
Muslims have reacted angrily to a chilling video of the Red Fort suicide bomber Umer un Nabi in which he seeks to glorify suicide as martyrdom and it being part of Islam released on social media. The chilling video recorded before the car-borne Kashmiri doctor blew himself up killing at least 10 persons and injuring two dozen on November 10 evening, was discovered from one of his companion's phones by investigators and probably shared with media.
Though the government issued an advisory to the media outlets to use discretion while covering the terror plot and report in a manner that it doesn't glory terror or encourage others to walk on the same path, the news channels, blogs and independent content creators used the clip all through the day.
Chairman, Islamic Centre of India, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli says. "The video released by a terror suspect in the Delhi blast is against the basic teachings of Islam, and the manner in which he has tried to prove that suicide bombing is legally permissible in Islam is completely baseless... Islam is against any kind of violence... To connect any kind of terror activity or suicide bombing with Islam is completely baseless."

Author Ambreen Zaidi wrote a post in which she said this person was an exmaple of what radicalisation does. "And this is why Indian Muslims need to fight, boldly, unapologetically. Not for optics, not for anyone’s approval, but for our own safety, dignity, and future...
"his is what radicalisation does. And this is why Indian Muslims need to fight, boldly, unapologetically. Not for optics, not for anyone’s approval, but for our own safety, dignity, and future. I am not sharing that monster’s video. His filth does not deserve amplification. But let’s be very clear: radicalism is not a distant threat. IT IS HERE, and we need to fight it now. It’s already late. But it doesn’t have to get worse!!!"
She refused to share the video of the doctor defending suicide bombing as a jihad tactics.
Former Mayor of srinagar Junaid Mattoo said on X
"I have watched the video of Umar Nabi, the accused in the Delhi blast. It is a nihilistic, destructive and perverse mindset that has no basis in Islam. In fact Islam prohibits such acts of terror and destruction even in times of war - not to speak of orchestrating these acts in your own nation. People like him are antithetical to the teachings of Islam. They are the biggest enemies of Muslims - defaming them, distorting our religion to fit into their perverse mindsets and objectives. Every Islamic scholar, Imam and Khateeb should unequivocally call out this perverse mindset for what it is - evilness and terror. There is no context to evilness. Neither in our faith nor in humanity."

The Delhi blast accused Umar Nabi's video is deeply disturbing. Equating suicide bombing with martyrdom is sickening. A seemingly well-educated person glorifying killing himself and others, instead of using his knowledge to improve his family's living standards & live a productive life, reflects a tragic level of radicalisation.
