Nitin Nabin on Wednesday alleged that “double standards” exist in West Bengal regarding permissions for religious practices, claiming that while namaz is allowed without hurdles, organising pujas or setting up pandals requires court approval.
Speaking to reporters after offering prayers at the Dakshineswar Kali Temple, Nabin described the situation as unfortunate.
He claimed that permissions are not required for offering namaz, but organisers of pujas must approach the high court for approvals to conduct rituals and install pandals.

The BJP leader said he prayed to Goddess Kali for peace, prosperity and the overall well-being of the people of the state. He added that he also sought blessings for the vision of a developed Bengal and a “Sonar Bangla”.
