An offshore support ship has berthed at Kollam Port on Monday against the backdrop of rising tensions in West Asia, port officials said.

The vessel, Zaki Vision, flying the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis, reached the port earlier in the day after seeking permission to dock due to the prevailing security situation in the region.

According to the Kollam Port Officer’s office, the ship—deployed for offshore maritime support operations—had requested berthing approval on Sunday. The request was cleared after obtaining the necessary permissions from Customs and Immigration authorities.

Officials said the vessel is on its maiden journey from Hong Kong to Saudi Arabia and has a crew of 12 on board.

Port authorities added that if additional vessels seek berthing space, Zaki Vision may be moved to the outer anchorage area to accommodate traffic. The ship has not indicated how long it intends to remain at the port, though all required logistical support is being extended.

The port officer also noted that a sister vessel of Zaki Vision had docked at Kollam about two weeks ago due to a technical issue. Kollam Port is capable of handling ships measuring up to 150 metres in length, officials said.
