Narendra Modi on Thursday extended his greetings to people across several states on the occasion of Chaitra Navratri, praying for the well-being of all citizens.
In his message, the prime minister said the festival is not only a time for devotion and spirituality but also encourages values like sacrifice and self-discipline. He noted that Navratri is dedicated to the worship of the nine forms of Maa Shakti and reflects the philosophical idea of “Ekoham Bahusyam,” which highlights the presence of the divine in multiple forms.
Modi added that this vision underpins India’s ethos of unity in diversity and strengthens its identity as the “Mother of Democracy.” He prayed to Maa Adi Shakti for the welfare and prosperity of all citizens during the nine-day festival.
Highlighting its cultural significance, he said the traditional Indian calendar represents a vibrant heritage spanning thousands of years. The occasion also marks the beginning of a new year in the Hindu calendar, including the Yugabda year 5128 and Vikram Samvat year 2083.
