Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday reiterated his call for 'one acre, one season', urging farmers to adopt natural farming practices. In a LinkedIn post, he recalled his visit to Coimbatore for the South India Natural Farming Summit 2025, where he interacted with farmers, scientists, first-generation graduates, and agri-entrepreneurs who left high-paying jobs to pursue sustainable agriculture.
Modi highlighted natural farming’s benefits, including soil health, reduced chemical use, biodiversity promotion, and lower input costs, and encouraged citizens to explore startups and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in the sector.
He also lauded government initiatives like the National Mission on Natural Farming, PM-Kisan, and Kisan Credit Card schemes, which support farmers in sustainable agriculture. Recalling his interactions, Modi praised farmers preserving native crops and practicing multi-layered agriculture, emphasizing innovation, enterprise, and community upliftment.
