Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrived in Guwahati on Thursday on a two-day visit, during which she will hold a series of meetings to finalise the party’s list of candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.
Vadra is the chairperson of the Congress screening committee for the elections to the 126-member Assam Assembly, which are expected to be held in March–April.
She was received at the airport by state Congress president Gaurav Gogoi and other senior party leaders.
From the airport, the Congress leader proceeded to the revered Kamakhya Temple, located atop the Nilachal Hills, where she offered prayers.
The Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is also the Wayanad MP, will meet members of the party’s Political Affairs Committee and hold one-on-one interactions with MLAs, district presidents and MPs, state Congress leaders said.

Later in the day, she is also scheduled to unveil a ‘charge sheet’ against the BJP-led Assam government, highlighting issues the Congress plans to raise during the election campaign.
