Sabarkantha
Six women lost their lives and eight others were injured after a private bus rammed into a van on Wednesday in Sabarkantha district, police said.
The accident took place on National Highway 48 connecting Shamlaji and Himmatnagar when the speeding bus struck the van from behind, Deputy Superintendent of Police A K Patel said.
According to officials, the van was carrying women from Modasa in neighbouring Aravalli district to Hunj village near Himmatnagar for a social function. The passengers were reportedly part of a catering team working at community events.
Six women travelling in the van died in the collision. Seven other women and the driver sustained injuries.
The injured were taken to the civil hospital in Himmatnagar. Medical officer Dr Dhrupad Chauhan said two of the injured were in critical condition.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination.
