Mohima Khatun is the first Muslim woman to be appointed as a football coach by the Indian Football Association. A career footballer, Mohima is currently training goalkeepers of the probable players for the Indian under 19 women team for the Asia Cup at Hyderabad.

It was a great opportunity for this career footballer from Howrah when she was appointed by the AIFF to coach goalkeepers in the FIFA Talent Under-19 girls.

Mohima hails from a rather poor family. Through her sheer hard work and perseverance, she became a national player. She has worked hard despite his family's poverty and has moved forward with his love for football.

Mohima has played for various first division clubs in the state, including Taltala Deepti, Behala Oikhya, Sevayani, Baligram area and Intention Club. Finally, her dream of getting into a reputed team was realised when she got a chance at the East Bengal Club in Kolkata in 2019.

Mohima then wanted to become a coach. She completed his D License coaching from Minerva Punjab Football Academy in 2021 and was appointed as a coach at Baroda Football Academy.

She coached both the boys and girls at the Aditi Institute of Sports in Ziaganj, Murshidabad, from 2024: Bengal Team Junior Girls, Bhawanipur Under-13 and 17 boys.

On the face of it, this success of glory seems to come very easily, but it really doesn’t. Even after becoming a successful footballer, Mohima again saw hard days.

She opted to become a delivery girl for Flipkart during the 2020 COVID lockdown. She delivered cupboards, refrigerators, washing machines and various electronic items.

She tirelessly delivered these items from house to house every day. She did all this to make a living and provide for her family without caring for her status as a reputed state-level footballer.

Mohima married Farooq Sheikh, who plays football in the Premier Division at Kolkata Maidan.
