New Delhi
A fresh threat email allegedly targeting the Delhi Assembly and the Speaker’s Officer on Special Duty has raised security concerns, marking the second such alert in as many days.
According to officials, the email warned of a possible bomb attack on the Assembly premises. A similar threat had been received a day earlier, directed at the Assembly and Speaker Vijender Gupta.
Authorities also confirmed that the nearby Vidhan Sabha Metro Station received a related threat. The emails were sent early Tuesday morning, with messages reaching both the Speaker’s office and the Assembly’s official email account within minutes of each other.
The threatening communication reportedly mentioned several high-profile leaders, including Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, S. Jaishankar, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Sandhu.
In response, security agencies deployed sniffer dog squads to thoroughly check the Assembly complex. Officials said investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the emails.
Despite the scare, Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht assured that legislative proceedings would continue. He emphasised that while such threats must be taken seriously, they would not disrupt the functioning of the House.

Several MLAs also dismissed the threat as a hoax, asserting that adequate security measures are in place and there is no immediate cause for alarm.
