A commemorative programme was held in the national capital to mark the 123rd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh, under the leadership of Kamlesh Sehrawat-Malik, Delhi State President of the Women Wing of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). The event emerged as a notable platform that brought together women leaders, Khap representatives and political figures cutting across party lines to honour the legacy of one of India’s strongest voices for farmers and rural communities.
The programme witnessed the presence of several prominent personalities, including BJP MP Yogender Chandolia, Delhi councillor Smt. Anju Aman Kumar, Sarvkhap Palam 360 President Surendra Solanki, Sehrawat Khap President Dhara Singh Pradhan, along with Ranbir Pradhan, Suresh Pradhan, Jai Prakash Pradhan and former Delhi councillor Narayan Singh.
Addressing the gathering, Kamlesh Sehrawat-Malik said Chaudhary Charan Singh’s ideology remains deeply relevant even today. She described him as a leader who consistently stood for villages, farmers and marginalised sections of society, adding that the diverse participation at the event reflected his belief in collective and inclusive leadership.
Yogender Chandolia, Member of Parliament, termed Chaudhary Charan Singh a visionary statesman whose policies were ahead of their time. He noted that Charan Singh laid the groundwork for farmer-centric governance in India and said such programmes help keep his ideals alive in public memory across generations.
Speaking on the occasion, Surendra Solanki highlighted the former Prime Minister’s strong connection with grassroots institutions. He said Charan Singh valued traditional community structures like the Khap system and believed in leadership that evolved through dialogue, trust and empowerment at the village level.

Dhara Singh Pradhan, President of Sehrawat Khap and Pradhan of 52 Gaon, said that discussions on farmers’ rights and rural dignity even today draw heavily from Chaudhary Charan Singh’s vision. He added that his legacy continues to inspire villages that stand for unity, self-respect and social harmony.
The programme concluded with participants taking a collective pledge to uphold Chaudhary Charan Singh’s principles of integrity, inclusive development and farmer welfare. Speakers also stressed the importance of sustained dialogue among political leaders, women’s organisations and community institutions to carry forward his vision of a stronger and more equitable India.
