At 64, actor and producer Suniel Shetty continues to impress fans not only with his enduring screen presence but also with his commitment to health and fitness. Despite being a grandfather to Athiya Shetty and cricketer KL Rahul’s daughter, Evaarah, the veteran star maintains a disciplined lifestyle that reflects in his energy and physique.
Speaking during a recent interaction with Curly Tales in Dubai, Shetty shared insights into his food habits, fitness routine, and the simple practices that help him stay in shape.
The actor expressed his fondness for Dubai’s culinary offerings, particularly Arabic cuisine. From fresh salads to flavourful kebabs, he described the city’s food culture as exceptional. One of his favourite habits while in the UAE is enjoying traditional-style black coffee without milk or sugar, paired with a single date.
Shetty emphasised that consistency is the key to his healthy lifestyle. According to him, understanding portion sizes, meal timings, and the amount of oil and sugar consumed plays a crucial role in maintaining fitness. Even while travelling, he makes a conscious effort to stick to clean and balanced eating habits.
His daily diet is centred around simplicity and nutrition. Breakfast typically focuses on protein-rich foods to provide energy for the day ahead. Lunch includes a balanced mix of carbohydrates, healthy fats, and protein. As someone with South Indian roots, rice remains an important part of his meals, although he ensures the quantity is carefully controlled.
For dinner, the actor prefers a light and balanced meal prepared with minimal oil. One habit he strongly follows is finishing his last meal before 6 pm, allowing ample time for digestion before bedtime.
Fitness, however, is not limited to food alone. Shetty revealed that in Mumbai he usually begins his day around 5:30 am for his workout session. Even during vacations, he maintains an active routine, though he may exercise a little later in the morning. He believes holidays are meant for relaxation, but not at the cost of abandoning healthy habits altogether.
