Mohsina Imtiaz Laskar of Nilbagan, is set to become Hojai district’s first female Muslim judge, marking a historic milestone in the district’s history in central Assam. The 27-year old Mohsina is also among Assam's youngest female Muslim judges.

Mohsina has cracked the Assam Judicial Service (AJS) Examination 2026, conducted by the Gauhati High Court and has been selected for appointment as the Grade-III Judicial Service Officer.

According to the published results, Mahsina secured sixth position among 22 candidates selected on the basis of merit across Assam. She will now serve  as a First-Class Judicial Magistrate, a position which is broadly categorized as judge.

Her achievement is not merely an important milestone in her personal career; it is also a matter of immense pride for the Ajmal educational institutions. Her association with Ajmal Law College began as a student and later developed into her professional career as an Assistant Professor.

Now, with her entry into the judicial service, she has embarked on yet another significant chapter of her professional journey.

Mohsina Imtiaz Laskar said, “Ever since I enrolled at Ajmal Law College, becoming a judge had been my dream. First, I would like to thank Maulana Badruddin Ajmal Sahib and Sirajuddin Ajmal Sahib, because they have provided good educational opportunities to students from financially weaker backgrounds and remote areas. I would also like to thank our teachers and mentors. It is because of their guidance that I have been able to reach this stage.”

Mohsina completed her LLB from Ajmal Law College in 2023. She subsequently pursued her LLM at Gauhati University, where she secured first position with First Class in the LLM examination in 2025. After achieving academic distinction, Mohsina went on to establish herself in the field of teaching.

She is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Ajmal Law College. After succeeding in both academics and teaching, Mohsina set her sights on entering the judicial service. By successfully clearing the Assam Judicial Service examination, she has now fulfilled that long-cherished ambition.

Her selection for the Grade-III Judicial Service as a First-Class Judicial Magistrate represents a significant achievement in her career. Her journey—from legal education and academic excellence to teaching and, ultimately, entry into the judicial service—gives her professional trajectory a distinctive significance.

News of Mohsina’s success spread quickly, creating an atmosphere of celebration among the Ajmal family, as well as the officials, staff, teachers and students of the Ajmal educational institutions. To celebrate her achievement, a special felicitation programme was organised at the premises of Ajmal Law College on September 24. Before the felicitation ceremony, students of the college welcomed Mahsina Imtiaz Laskar to the institution through a procession. Her return to her alma mater after clearing the judicial service examination—this time as a successful former student and current Assistant Professor—was a particularly joyous moment for the students.
