Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar today met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on the second day of his three-day visit to India.

The two discussed increasing bilateral and regional cooperation between the two countries  and achieving lasting peace in Afghanistan.

Mohammad Hanif Atmar took to the Twitter to announce about the meeting. He said the two sides discussed political, security and economic areas along with common security challenges.

He tweeted, "It is great to meet my dear friend and Indian NSA Ajit Doval today. There was a great discussion on political, security and our cooperation in the fields. We emphasized common security challenges and the need to increase bilateral and regional cooperation on achieving lasting peace in Afghanistan. "

Mohammed Hanif Atmar also met External Affair minister S Jaishankar. They discussed expansion of bilateral relations and the peace process in Afghanistan. He also briefed Jaishankar about developments in the international efforts to start the Afghan peace process in Doha, and the results of last week's Moscow conference on Afghanistan.

Both sides reviewed the Troika peace meeting in Moscow and termed the meeting's final announcement as positive to strengthen and advance the peace process.

The statement released after the ministers meeting said that India is ready to participate in regional conferences on peace and development in Afghanistan and the Heart of Asia-Istanbul process in Tajikistan and peace talks in Turkey.

Atmar thanked and appreciated India's efforts to provide $ 3 billion in economic and development assistance to Afghanistan in the last two decades. He also thanked India for delivery of 500,000 doses of coronovirus vaccine and for providing 75,000 tonnes of wheat to Afghanistan.

Referring to the Shatoot Dam, Atmar lauded India's commitment and cooperation in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for its construction..
