Tibetans in exile on Wednesday celebrated the 87th birthday of the Tibetan spiritual leader, the 14th Dalai Lama, in the hill town of Dharamshala.
The celebrations were organized by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) of the Tibetan government-in-exile in India.
Hundreds of Tibetans including monks, nuns, school students, and foreign supporters gathered at the main Buddhist temple in the town.
The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Jairam Thakur virtually attended the event.
American actor Richard Gere was also present at the event.
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also spoke to the Dalai Lama and wished him on his birthday.

The Dalai Lama has been living in exile in India after fleeing China in 1959.
