US President Donald Trump has issued a series of strong warnings to Iran as a deadline set by Washington for de-escalation approaches, raising concerns over a potential major escalation in the ongoing conflict.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump cautioned that the situation could lead to unprecedented destruction, describing the moment as a critical turning point. His remarks come amid reports of US strikes on strategic locations, including Kharg Island.

The US President also suggested that political changes may be underway in Tehran, claiming that a shift in leadership dynamics could open the door to a different future for the country. He framed the current confrontation as the culmination of decades of strained relations between the two nations.

Despite the sharp rhetoric, Trump expressed support for the Iranian people, while maintaining pressure on the country’s leadership to comply with US demands.

At the centre of the standoff is the strategic Strait of Hormuz, with Washington insisting that Tehran ensure its reopening. Trump has warned that failure to do so could trigger a large-scale military response targeting critical infrastructure such as power plants and bridges.

He further indicated that such action, if undertaken, would be swift and extensive, potentially causing widespread disruption across the country within a short time frame.

Trump emphasised that Iran has been given a limited window to reach an agreement, noting that although Tehran sought additional time, the United States extended the deadline to 10 days. The final deadline, he said, would determine the next course of action.
