US President Donald Trump’s foreign envoy Steve Witkoff on Monday said that Russia remains fully committed to achieving peace in Ukraine, following the conclusion of talks between American and Russian delegations in Miami, Florida.

In a post on X, Witkoff said Moscow appreciated Washington’s efforts to help resolve the conflict. He described the discussions over the past two days as constructive and focused on advancing President Trump’s peace initiative for Ukraine.

According to Witkoff, the meetings involved Russian Special Envoy Kirill Dmitriev and senior members of the American delegation, including Witkoff himself, Jared Kushner and White House staff member Josh Gruenbaum. He said Russia had conveyed that it places high value on the United States’ role in pushing for a peaceful settlement and restoring global security.

The talks took place even as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged the US to step up pressure on Moscow.

Separately, Witkoff and Ukraine’s Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, Rustem Umerov, described the Ukrainian delegation’s interactions with American and European counterparts in Miami as productive. In a joint statement shared by Umerov on X, they said discussions focused on further refining President Trump’s proposed 20-point peace plan and aligning positions on security guarantees for Ukraine.

The statement said the Ukrainian delegation, which included Umerov and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Lieutenant General Andriy Hnatov, held a series of meetings with US and European officials to develop a coordinated strategic approach. Key European national security advisers also participated in the talks.

A separate US-Ukraine meeting concentrated on four major areas: further development of the 20-point plan, a multilateral security guarantee framework, a US security guarantee for Ukraine, and an economic and recovery roadmap.

Umerov said particular emphasis was placed on timelines and the sequencing of next steps. Reiterating Kyiv’s position, he said Ukraine remains committed to achieving a just and lasting peace that goes beyond a simple halt in fighting and lays the foundation for long-term stability, security and prosperity. He also expressed appreciation for US leadership and continued coordination with international partners in the peace process.
