Sadia: “Will continue to make my India proud”

Sadia Tariq who won gold medals in the ongoing the Moscow Wushu Star international championship in Moscow said, “I did my very best and I got exactly what I deserved and I’ll definitely continue trying to make my India proud.”

Sadia who hails from Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir shared her picture from the venue reacted on Twitter after winning the first gold for India. She also thanked her coach and mentor Kudeep Handoo, a fellow Kashmiri:

After Sadia’s gold Indian athletes Rohit Jadhav and Sanyogita Singh have also secured gold in their respective events. According to the Sports Authority of India (SAI)) Jeevan Vijyta has secured silver bringing the medal tally for India to four.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Sadia, and said her success will inspire many others. He said:

"Congratulations to Sadia Tariq on winning the Gold medal at the Moscow Wushu Stars Championship. Her success will inspire many budding athletes. Wishing her the very best for her future endeavours."

Sadia in turn thanked Prime Minister and replied: Sir, I want to sincerely thank you for congratulating me on my recent achievement. It's a proud moment for our nation and i will definitely continue trying to make my India Proud.
