DeepLase Technologies, a deep-tech photonics startup incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, has secured ₹6 crore in a seed funding round co-led by Mounttech Growth Fund – Kavachh and Yali Capital.

The fresh capital will be deployed to strengthen the company’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities, fast-track product commercialisation, and expand deployments across sectors such as precision industrial automation, optical communications, advanced sensing, quantum technologies, and healthcare instrumentation.

Founded by Dr. Deepak Jain, a faculty member at IIT Delhi, DeepLase focuses on developing next-generation specialty optical fibers and high-performance fiber-laser systems. Its technologies are designed to deliver superior stability, energy efficiency, spectral precision, and long-term reliability for demanding industrial and scientific applications.

As global data consumption surges and artificial intelligence infrastructure scales rapidly, photonics has emerged as a critical enabler of modern digital systems. From data centres and telecom networks to next-gen computing platforms, there is a growing need for optical components that offer higher bandwidth, lower latency, and improved efficiency. DeepLase aims to address these evolving requirements through advanced optical fiber platforms.

Laser technologies today play a central role in industries ranging from precision manufacturing and semiconductor fabrication to medical diagnostics and quantum systems. However, many existing solutions remain complex and largely confined to laboratory environments. DeepLase is working to bridge this gap by building robust, application-ready laser systems suited for real-world industrial use.

“Our goal is to develop laser platforms that combine cutting-edge optical fiber design with material innovation and system-level reliability,” said Dr. Jain. “As industries increasingly rely on controlled light technologies, the demand for scalable and deployment-ready solutions is growing rapidly.”

Investors see DeepLase as part of a broader wave of deep-tech innovation emerging from India’s research ecosystem. Raj Sethia, Managing Partner and Co-founder at Mounttech Growth Fund – Kavachh, noted that photonics is becoming foundational to sectors such as advanced manufacturing, telecommunications, and next-generation computing. He added that the company is building strong intellectual property in a high-growth domain with global relevance.

Ganapathy Subramaniam, Co-founder and Managing Partner at Yali Capital, highlighted the long-term potential of photonics, stating that DeepLase combines strong scientific expertise with a clear commercial vision. He said the team is well-positioned to translate advanced research into scalable industrial solutions.

Prior to this round, DeepLase had received support from multiple government-backed innovation and deep-tech commercialisation programmes, reinforcing its focus on building indigenous photonics capabilities.

The company’s long-term vision is to develop globally competitive photonics infrastructure from India, enabling advanced optical systems for computing, communications, manufacturing, and scientific research.
