Disney has officially locked the release dates for two of its highly anticipated films, Incredibles 3 and Lilo & Stitch 2 slated for Summer 2028, adding excitement to its upcoming theatrical slate.
The studio announced that the live-action sequel Lilo & Stitch 2 will arrive in theatres on May 26, followed by Incredibles 3 on June 16. The announcement was made via Disney’s official Instagram handle.
As per industry reports, Incredibles 3 will be directed by Peter Sohn, marking a shift from long time franchise director Brad Bird. However, Bird will continue to contribute as a writer and producer. The earlier films featured voices of Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter and Samuel L. Jackson, though plot details of the third instalment remain under wraps.
The original Incredibles film centred on a superhero family navigating a world where superpowers were outlawed, while its sequel focused on restoring public trust in superheroes amid new threats. Both films were major box office successes, with the second instalment crossing the billion-dollar mark globally.
Meanwhile, Disney has kept details about Lilo & Stitch 2 under wraps, including its cast and storyline. Chris Sanders, co-creator of the original 2002 film, is set to return as writer and will once again voice the beloved character Stitch. Dean Fleischer Camp, who directed the recent remake, had initially planned the project for streaming before it was shifted to a theatrical release.
