Streaming giant Netflix has announced the premiere of its upcoming Tamil feature Made in Korea, a heartfelt cross-cultural coming-of-age drama set to debut on March 12.

Backed by Rise East Entertainment, the film is written and directed by Ra. Karthik and stars Priyanka Mohan alongside South Korean actor Park Hye-Jin in leading roles.

At the heart of the story is Shenbagam, affectionately known as Shenba, a young woman from Tamil Nadu whose childhood fascination with Korean culture shapes her aspirations. When fate lands her in Seoul, the city she once romanticised, she is confronted with unexpected realities. What unfolds is an emotional journey of resilience, identity, and meaningful connection.

Director Ra. Karthik said his inspiration stemmed from the lesser-explored cultural and historical parallels between Tamil and Korean heritage. He described the film as a warm, slice-of-life narrative celebrating shared histories and emotional bridges that transcend geography.

Monika Shergill, Vice-President (Content), Netflix India, noted that the film reflects the platform’s commitment to telling locally rooted stories with universal appeal. She called it an intimate and uplifting tale that exemplifies global storytelling grounded in cultural authenticity.

Priyanka Mohan, who brings Shenba to life on screen, shared that she instantly connected with the character’s curiosity-driven dream. For her, being part of a Netflix project that explores such cross-cultural themes makes the experience even more meaningful.

Blending aspiration, discovery, and emotional depth, Made in Korea promises to offer viewers a tender story about chasing dreams across borders.
