Artificial Intelligence has emerged as a transformative force with the potential to accelerate India’s economic growth, strengthen governance and significantly improve citizens’ quality of life, experts said, underscoring the need to anchor AI development in the principles of People, Planet and Progress.

For People, AI-enabled solutions are expanding access to healthcare through telemedicine and advanced diagnostics, personalising education via adaptive learning tools, and strengthening financial security through fraud detection systems.

For the Planet, AI is driving smarter and more sustainable agricultural practices, including crop prediction, precision farming and drone-based monitoring, helping optimise resources and improve productivity.

For Progress, AI is enhancing governance by enabling language translation of court judgments, improving service delivery, and boosting efficiency in everyday applications such as food delivery, mobility and personalised digital services. These developments reflect a shift towards inclusive and accessible technology for both rural and urban India.

Speaking to ANI on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit, Vanessa Smith, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at ServiceNow and President of ServiceNow.org (US), stressed that AI adoption must remain human-centric.

“I think this should be the core principle on which our AI foundation and AI economy are built. If decisions are based solely on profit or consumerism, a huge section of the population could be left behind,” she said.

Smith emphasised the importance of keeping “humans in the loop” at every stage of AI adoption, irrespective of whether an economy is developed or developing. She highlighted the crucial role of governments in ensuring inclusivity across age, gender and ethnic backgrounds in the datasets used to train AI models.

“If populations are excluded from data sets, they will be left behind from the power and value that AI can deliver. Governments can ensure inclusivity in data and model training so everyone benefits,” she added.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 is focused on delivering outcome-oriented results aligned with national priorities. It aims to advance practical AI deployment, strengthen policy coherence and institutional coordination, enhance governance and regulatory frameworks, assess regional preparedness for AI-led industrial growth, and accelerate skill development and workforce transition.
