DMK deputy general secretary Kanimozhi on Tuesday accused the opposition AIADMK of making electoral promises without delivering on them.
Addressing a poll rally in support of party candidate V G Rajendran for the April 23 election, Kanimozhi said the AIADMK had earlier promised free mobile phones but failed to implement the scheme.
“In 2016, they promised mobile phones, but none have received them,” she said, contrasting it with former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s assurance of providing television sets, which she said was fulfilled.
She asserted that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has honoured its commitments made ahead of the 2021 Assembly elections and is therefore approaching voters with confidence.
Kanimozhi also highlighted welfare initiatives announced by DMK president and Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, including a scheme to provide free electricity for irrigation through meterless pump sets to around 20 lakh farmers.
The DMK MP further alleged that women felt unsafe during the previous AIADMK regime and were reluctant to report crimes at police stations.

She also criticised the Centre, accusing it of “ignoring” Tamil Nadu by withholding due funds and failing to allocate budgets for key projects.
