The Assam cabinet on Friday adopted 75 resolutions expressing its "deep sense of appreciation and gratitude" to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the state's and the Northeast's "profound transformation" across development, peace and security, connectivity, infrastructure, industry and social sectors.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presided over a 90-minute special meeting to exclusively deliberate on 25 years of continuous public service of Modi, first as the Gujarat CM and then as the PM.
"Peace created the conditions for development, connectivity opened doors to opportunity, industry and investment created new economic possibilities, and healthcare and education strengthened human capabilities," Sarma said in a media briefing.
"The cabinet, therefore, placed on record its considered appreciation that, over the past 25 years of Modi's public life, and particularly during his tenure as the prime minister, Assam has witnessed a transformation that is simultaneously economic, social, physical, strategic and civilisational," the CM said.

From being viewed largely as a distant frontier, Assam is increasingly emerging as a peaceful, connected, confident and investment-ready state, a gateway to the Northeast and an important growth partner in the journey towards a 'Viksit Bharat', Sarma added.
