According to projections by Axis My India, the UDF is expected to achieve a clear majority, winning between 78 and 90 seats in the 140-member parliament. The ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) is projected to secure 49 to 62 seats, while the BJP-led NDA may be limited to 0–3 seats.
Another survey by People’s Pulse presents a similar trend, estimating 75 to 85 seats for the UDF and 55 to 60 seats for the LDF, with the NDA again expected to win up to three seats.
Meanwhile, JVC’s projections suggest a narrower margin, with the UDF likely to win 72 to 84 seats and the LDF 52 to 60 seats. In this forecast, the NDA could perform slightly better, securing between 3 and 8 seats.
Kerala voted in a single phase on April 9, recording a voter turnout of 78.27 percent.
In the 2021 Assembly elections, the LDF had defied the state’s long-standing trend of alternating governments every five years by returning to power. The alliance won 99 out of 140 seats, with the CPI(M) securing 62 seats, and Pinarayi Vijayan continuing as Chief Minister for a second consecutive term.
Those results had marked a significant setback for the UDF, making the current exit poll projections encouraging for leaders of the Congress-led bloc.
The results for the Kerala Assembly elections will be declared on May 4, along with outcomes in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry.
