Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday inaugurated the first phase of Mumbai Metro Line 9, connecting Dahisar East to Kashigaon and linking Mumbai with neighbouring Mira-Bhayandar in Thane district.
The metro services will be opened to the public from Wednesday.
Fadnavis flagged off the inaugural train from Dahisar East and travelled to Kashigaon, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, and Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde.

With the addition of Line 9, Mumbai now has five operational metro corridors. These include Mumbai Metro Line 1, Line 2A (Andheri West–Dahisar East), Mumbai Metro Line 7, and Mumbai Metro Line 3 connecting Colaba to Bandra Kurla Complex and SEEPZ.

The first phase of Line 9 spans a 5.6-km elevated stretch with four stations—Dahisar East, Pandurangwadi, Miragaon and Kashigaon—and forms part of a larger corridor that will further extend into Mira-Bhayandar.
