Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have dismantled an interstate terror network linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, arresting five operatives, including a key accused who had been evading capture for 16 years.

The arrested include Abdullah alias Abu Hureira, a long-time fugitive, and a Pakistani terrorist, Usman alias Khubaib. Authorities said the operation was carried out jointly by J-K Police and central agencies.

Investigations involved searches at 19 locations across Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Haryana, leading to the recovery of incriminating materials. Officials revealed that the module provided logistical and financial support to terrorists.

Three Srinagar residents—Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat, Adil Rashid Bhat, and Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Mama—were also arrested for allegedly aiding the group with shelter and supplies.

According to officials, one foreign terrorist had managed to travel abroad using forged documents with the help of the network. The group is believed to have infiltrated India around 16 years ago and remained active across the Kashmir Valley.

During this period, the module reportedly handled nearly 40 foreign terrorists, most of whom have since been neutralised by security forces.
