Leaders hailed for stopping speeches on Muezzin’s call

Amidst the protests against the use of loudspeakers for Azan from mosques and communal eruptions in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, a senior leader of the UP Government led by Yogi Adityanath has publically demonstrated the ethos of Indians respecting all religions.

The incident happened in Lucknow where Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak was addressing a function on the eve of the Ambedkar Jayanti. He was in the middle of his speech when azan coming from the neighbourhood mosque of Indiranagar-Luvkush Nagar locality rents the air.
 
At this point, the Deputy CM stopped his speech and remained silent during Azaan.
 
Likewise, there was pin-drop silence in the hall full of invited guests.
 
Brijesh Pathak resumed his speech only after the Azan was over.
 
The video of this incident was shared on Twitter and it’s being widely shared on social media.
 
People are praising Deputy CM Brijesh Pathak for this gesture of showing respect for the Muslim faith, Both Hindus and Muslims are appreciating Pathak and like the video. By the time of writing the news, the video has gathered 18,000 views, was re-tweeted 398 times, and liked by about 2,000 people.

Last week, a similar incident had happened in Shirur, Maharashtra, when Home minister Dilip Valse Patil halted his speech on the call of the muezzin coming from a nearby mosque. A video of the incident had also gone viral on social media with netizens praising Patil’s gesture.
Patil’s cabinet colleague Ajit Pawar had also done something similar while speaking in Pune sometime back.
