Narendra Modi on Wednesday thanked retiring members of the Rajya Sabha for their contributions, saying there is “no full stop in politics” and their experience will continue to guide public life.
Addressing the House during the Budget Session, Modi said every member plays a unique role in parliamentary discussions and earns respect across party lines.
He urged newly elected MPs to learn from veteran leaders like H D Deve Gowda, Mallikarjun Kharge and Sharad Pawar, noting their decades-long parliamentary experience.
The Prime Minister also made a light-hearted remark about Ramdas Athawale, praising his sense of humour and saying his presence in the House would continue to be felt.
Among the 37 retiring members are Priyanka Chaturvedi, Tiruchi Siva and Abhishek Manu Singhvi.
The remarks come after biennial elections to fill 37 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states, of which 26 candidates were elected unopposed.
