Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna on Monday said authorities were identifying those allegedly responsible for provoking violence during workers’ protests in Noida and warned that strict legal action would be taken.
In a brief statement, the police chief said officials were tracing “provocative elements” and “external elements” suspected of involvement in the unrest.
“Firm legal action will follow once their identities are established,” Krishna said.

Officials said the DGP, along with senior officers including Additional Director General (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash, was monitoring the situation in Noida from the police headquarters control room in Lucknow.
Violence broke out in parts of Noida on Monday as factory workers protesting for higher wages allegedly torched vehicles, vandalised property and pelted stones in the Phase 2 and Sector 60 areas.
The protests caused major traffic disruption, with thousands of commuters stranded on roads leading to Delhi during peak morning hours. Long vehicle queues were reported near the Delhi-Noida border.
Police said adequate forces had been deployed across industrial areas under the Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate, with senior officers present on the ground to maintain order.

Authorities said the situation was under control and under constant watch, while urging people not to believe rumours.
