Pakistani terrorist handler Sajid Jatt has been named among seven accused, including the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its proxy outfit The Resistance Front (TRF), in the chargesheet filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

The NIA has identified both LeT and TRF as legal entities that played a central role in the planning, coordination and execution of the attack, which involved religion-based targeted killings that claimed 26 lives.

The 1,597-page chargesheet, submitted before the NIA Special Court in Jammu, outlines Pakistan’s role in orchestrating the conspiracy, detailing the responsibilities of each accused along with extensive documentary, technical and testimonial evidence.

The chargesheet also names three Pakistani terrorists — Faisal Jatt alias Suleman Shah, Habeeb Tahir alias Jibran, and Hamza Afghani — who were killed by Indian security forces during Operation Mahadev in Dachigam, Srinagar, in July 2025, weeks after the Pahalgam attack.

According to the agency, LeT, TRF and the four terrorists have been booked under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, the Arms Act, 1959, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. Charges related to waging war against the nation have also been invoked.

The NIA stated that an intensive scientific investigation conducted over nearly eight months has conclusively traced the origin of the conspiracy to Pakistan, which it said continues to sponsor terror activities against India.

Two individuals — Parvaiz Ahmad and Bashir Ahmad Jothar — arrested on June 22 for sheltering the terrorists, have also been chargesheeted. During questioning, they revealed the identities of the attackers and confirmed that all three were Pakistani nationals linked to the proscribed LeT.
