New Delhi
The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear a petition challenging the constitutional validity of the Rajasthan Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2025.
A bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi issued notices to the Rajasthan government and the Centre, seeking their responses.
The court also tagged the fresh petition with other pending matters that challenge the same 2025 legislation.
The plea has sought to have the Act declared unconstitutional and void, contending that it violates the fundamental rights guaranteed under Part III of the Constitution.
The top court had earlier issued notice on another petition questioning the validity of the law, which was passed by the Rajasthan Assembly in September.
