Vicky Kaushal is leaving no stone unturned for his first collaboration with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the much-anticipated period drama Love & War. The film, which has reportedly been in production for over two years, is now said to be in its final stretch of shooting.

Although the makers have maintained strict secrecy around the storyline, early reports suggest that Vicky Kaushal plays a character that spans two distinct phases, requiring significant physical transformation. This dual-shade portrayal reportedly demanded major changes in his physique to match the evolving timeline of the character.

According to a source cited by Hindustan Times, the actor underwent a striking body transformation for the role. Known for his dedication to physically demanding characters, Vicky is said to have first gained around 12 kg during the initial phase of the shoot. He later followed an intense fitness regimen to shed approximately 15 kg for the film’s climax portions, highlighting his commitment to authenticity.

A source close to the production shared that Vicky fully committed to the demanding physical requirements of the role, describing his transformation as both disciplined and remarkable.

Love & War brings together a powerful ensemble featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. The Bhansali directorial is a period drama set against the backdrop of romance and aviation, with Ranbir and Vicky reportedly playing Indian Air Force pilots.

Despite growing curiosity, plot details remain tightly guarded. The film has generated significant buzz due to its grand scale, star-studded cast, and Bhansali’s signature cinematic vision.

The film is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on January 21, 2027, ahead of the Republic Day window. It was earlier expected to release in Summer 2026, but production delays linked to its large scale pushed the timeline further.

Industry reports also suggest that the production team has implemented strict security measures to prevent leaks from the sets. A source revealed that the cast and crew have been bound by extensive confidentiality agreements, with over 500 Non-Disclosure Agreements reportedly signed to ensure no material from the shoot reaches the public domain.
