After Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind offering organizational-level support for relief efforts in the flood-affected areas of Punjab, another Muslim organization Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has followed the suit.

The JIH which is one of the leading Muslim organisations in the country, it is not only providing relief material but also planning a comprehensive rehabilitation programme to bring flood-ravaged Punjab back on track.

As such the flood has left houses, villages, fields and roads destroyed and needing a massive reconstruction of infrastructure and properties.

For this purpose, a high-level delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind recently visited the most affected areas of Punjab.

The members of the JIH made an assessment of the ground situation for preparimg a long-term rehabilitation plan.

Maulana Shafi Madni, the national secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, led the delegation to the Sangra and Baupur Jadid villages of Sultanpur Lodhi.

The devastation caused by the floods was clearly visible in these areas. Villages like Sundar Chak and Bahadurpur in Pathankot district have also suffered heavy losses. The most tragic situation was in Koliya village, where more than 30 concrete houses were washed away in the floods.

Four people lost their lives in this tragedy, including three innocent siblings and their 75-year-old grandmother. This tragic incident is heartbreaking and shows the extent to which floods affect not only property but also lives.

During its visit, the delegation interacted with Sikh community leaders, officials and victims to understand their immediate needs. The villagers complained of scarcity of food, clean drinking water, shelter and medical facilities.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind volunteers, in collaboration with Society for Bright Future, are actively engaged in relief and rescue operations in theirs areas.

They are distributing food kits, medicines and other essential items to displaced families.

Maulana Shafi Madani expressed his concern over the situation and said, "We are extremely concerned about the hardships of the flood victims. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, along with its partner organizations, is committed to provide all kinds of basic assistance - food, shelter, healthcare and rehabilitation - until normalcy is fully restored."

The organization believes that only immediate relief is not enough. For a permanent solution, a rehabilitation program will have to be worked on. Maulana Madani said, "Jamaat-e-Islami Hind will stand with the flood-affected communities and will work tirelessly for their relief and rehabilitation."He also appealed to the government to speed up relief distribution, improve infrastructure and announce adequate compensation packages for the affected families.

Emphasising on the need for collective efforts to overcome this crisis, Maulana Madani also urged the general public and well-wishers to come forward and extend a helping hand to these families.
