Jyoti completes 100 international appearances for Indian women's hockey team

Midfielder Jyoti reached a major milestone in her career on Tuesday as she earned her 100th international cap for the Indian Women's Hockey Team during India's FIH Women's Hockey Nations Cup match against Japan in New Zealand.

Congratulating the midfielder on the achievement, Hockey India hailed her contribution to the national side and recognised her consistency and commitment over the years.

A native of Haryana, Jyoti made her senior international debut in 2019 during a bilateral series against Malaysia. Since then, she has established herself as a dependable presence in the midfield, earning recognition for her relentless work rate, discipline, and calm approach under pressure.

Over the course of her international journey, she has represented India at several major tournaments and has been part of some memorable successes.

Jyoti was a member of the Indian team that secured the bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. She also featured in the squads that lifted the Women's Asian Champions Trophy titles in Ranchi and Rajgir.

In addition, she has represented the country in prestigious competitions such as the FIH Hockey Pro League, the Asia Cup, and several other international tournaments, contributing significantly to the team's performances.

Reflecting on the milestone, Jyoti described it as one of the proudest moments of her life.

"Representing India has always been the greatest honour for me. Completing 100 international matches is a very special achievement, and it is a moment I will treasure forever," she said.

The midfielder expressed gratitude to those who had supported her journey.

"I want to thank my family, coaches, teammates, and everyone who has stood by me throughout this journey. Every time I wear the Indian jersey, I feel motivated to give my best for the country," she said.

She added that the experience of playing at the highest level had shaped her both personally and professionally.

"This journey has taught me many important lessons and helped me grow not only as a player but also as a person. I hope to continue contributing to the team's success and create many more memorable moments," Jyoti said.

Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey praised the midfielder's dedication and consistency.

"Completing 100 international caps is a reflection of Jyoti's hard work, perseverance, and commitment to Indian hockey. She has been an important member of the national team and has always given her all whenever she has represented the country. We are proud of her achievements and wish her continued success," Tirkey said.

Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh also applauded the midfielder's contribution.

"Reaching the 100-cap mark is a significant accomplishment. Jyoti has proven herself to be a reliable and valuable member of the Indian Women's Hockey Team. Her journey serves as an inspiration for aspiring young players who dream of wearing the Indian jersey and competing at the highest level," he said.
