Alireza Tangsiri, the commander of the naval wing of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was reportedly killed in a strike in Bandar Abbas, according to Israeli media citing an unnamed official. There has been no official confirmation from either Iran or the Israeli military regarding the incident.
Tangsiri was believed to have played a key role in enforcing restrictions in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping corridor.
Meanwhile, the IRGC launched a fresh wave of attacks targeting US military installations across the region, describing the strikes as retaliation for earlier assaults on Iranian infrastructure and civilian areas.
These operations form part of “Operation True Promise 4,” initiated following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran. According to Iranian sources, the country’s armed forces have conducted dozens of missile and drone attacks, targeting Israeli military sites and US bases across West Asia. Groups such as Hezbollah and the Islamic Resistance in Iraq have also reportedly joined the offensive.
The IRGC has warned both the United States and Israel against launching any ground offensive inside Iranian territory, issuing a strongly worded statement cautioning of severe consequences.
In a message directed at American citizens, the IRGC alleged that leaders such as Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu were misrepresenting the realities of the conflict.
Separately, reports suggest the US Department of Defense may deploy additional forces, including elements of the 82nd Airborne Division, to the region. There are also indications that potential ground operations, including in areas such as Kharg Island, are under consideration.
