The United States has officially confirmed that it presented a 15-point ceasefire framework to Iran, marking the first public acknowledgment of the proposal amid ongoing tensions.
US envoy Steve Witkoff said the plan was conveyed through Pakistan as part of efforts to explore a potential peace agreement.
Speaking at a Cabinet meeting, Witkoff noted that the initiative was undertaken at the direction of President Donald Trump, who instructed that the outreach remain confidential due to the sensitive nature of the diplomatic engagement.
“If a deal happens, it will be great for the country of Iran, the entire region and the world at large,” Witkoff said, expressing optimism about the potential impact of the proposal.
