Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani on Friday laid out the conglomerate’s long-term roadmap focused on artificial intelligence and clean energy, describing the two sectors as essential to India’s aspiration of becoming a developed nation.

Speaking at Reliance Industries’ 49th Annual General Meeting, Ambani said India must move beyond merely consuming technologies developed elsewhere and emerge as a global innovator in artificial intelligence.

He stressed that achieving self-reliance in both energy and AI should be treated as national priorities, arguing that these goals are crucial for the success of the country’s broader development agenda.

Ambani said Reliance is stepping up investments in artificial intelligence and renewable energy, viewing them as key drivers of the company’s future growth as well as contributors to India’s economic transformation.

As part of this vision, Reliance is advancing its AI initiative, Reliance Intelligence, which Ambani described as the company’s newest growth engine. The platform is intended to build a large-scale AI ecosystem serving consumers, businesses and government institutions.

According to him, the objective is to establish a commercially sustainable AI infrastructure, platform and services network capable of operating at scale.

Ambani noted that Reliance has already created a strong foundation for its AI ambitions through partnerships with global technology leaders, including Google, Meta and NVIDIA. He said the company is now entering the execution phase of its AI strategy.

Drawing a comparison with the success of Jio in expanding internet access across India, Ambani said Reliance now aims to make artificial intelligence accessible to everyone, regardless of geography or background.

He added that Jio has evolved from being a technology adopter into a technology creator and that Reliance Intelligence would provide Indian engineers and innovators an opportunity to develop world-class technologies from within the country.

Calling for responsible innovation, Ambani urged young developers to create AI solutions that are affordable, trustworthy and beneficial to society. He said future AI systems should support sectors ranging from agriculture and healthcare to education, retail and creative industries.

The Reliance chief also highlighted the role of AI in improving productivity while creating new economic opportunities and employment.

Echoing the company’s AI ambitions, Akash Ambani said Reliance is building sovereign AI capabilities at scale. He noted that the infrastructure under development would place the company among the world’s largest AI platforms.

Alongside its digital ambitions, Reliance continues to invest heavily in clean and renewable energy businesses, which Ambani said will strengthen India’s energy security while supporting the transition towards sustainable sources of power.
